As the market starts to shift, it will probably cause some agents to seek other opportunities. At least that’s what happened over the last three market shift that I have experienced over my 36 years in this great business!
In each case, the agents who were merely order takers, the ones who didn’t really have a prospecting plan, found themselves competing with the professional agents. You know, the ones with a plan, with expertise and with market knowledge that were beating them to the available transactions. So they left.
Don’t let that happen to you. I’ve detailed 5 things that I have observed that have lead to success for many agents over the years. I hope that you’ll take the time to read them and then compare your own business with what I have for you below.
Although they were originally written for the agent just starting out, when the market shifts we all are just starting out … again!
- Partner up with the right broker…it can make all the difference! Also, find an agent in your office that you can partner with to learn from and to assist. It’s the quickest way to learn.
- Be Persistent…Years later I leaned another way of saying this – “Don’t quit five minutes before the miracle!” We don’t know when the miracle is going to occur, so don’t quit. Stay with what you have learned from your broker and agent partner that works.
- Plan…Plan your day, your week, your month and your year. Plan your time off, plan your prospecting, plan your followups, plan your marketing, plan your learning. Have a Plan for every aspect of the business.
- Be Proactive…You have got to go after the business. If you just sit at your computer all day and wait for the phone to ring you’ll be broke in no time flat. You HAVE to actually get out and meet people.
- Perform…Once you have done all of the above, you have to actually do it. Nike says “Just Do It” which is good advice for us!
So there you have it. As I look over this list, I see five “P’s” that will help you get to yet another “P” which is Payday!
Just Do It!
