Have you done a listing presentation via Zoom yet? How about working with buyers going over reports? (Or any other “conference style” meetings with clients?)
If not, you probably will sooner or later. Zoom seems to have insinuated itself into all aspects of our customer and colleague facing business.
One of the issues that I have with Zoom, that on the surface seems to be easily solved, is that of keeping a record of what was discussed. Sure, you can record the meeting very easily, but that does result in a large file that you have to download and then parse your way through it to find relevant info.
Not a real problem on a short meeting file, but a real pain if you want to parse a 30 minute or longer meeting to find that important agreement or statement made by your client!
So, when I found Perfect Recall yesterday I was pretty excited!
Here is what it does. You download the app, and then set up your Zoom app to connect with the app. During the Zoom call, the app opens up a small pop up box, which can be moved out of the way, and when something important gets said in the meeting, you can make a note in the box which is tagged with the time stamp of the video corresponding with when you made the note. This in itself is pretty cool, but the real power comes after the meeting ends.
Perfect Recall takes the recorded video from Zoom and uploads it to the Perfect Recall web app where it gets transcribed into text. When the process is finished, you see the transcribed text down the left side of the web app screen, tagged with whoever is speaking. If you were to highlight some of the text and click the highlight button the app then creates a video clip of just that highlighted portion and makes it so that you can share it easily!
Just to clarify what I have said, this is what David Gu, the developer has to say about the process:
1. During your calls, run the Perfect Recall desktop app and press Ctrl+Space to mark important moments. You can also write notes in the app, which are timestamped to the video recording
2. After the call ends, the recording will automatically be uploaded to the Perfect Recall web app
3. In the web app, view the recording of your call, a transcription, and the highlights/notes you made during the call. You can also create highlights after the call.
4. Share these video highlights as bite-size snippets with anyone, anywhere. ?
This app is from a small design team in Toronto and in order to set it up I was invited to a Zoom call (What else?) with the developer. In a few minutes he walked me through the setup and then demo’d how to use the app.
I was using Safari on my Mac and we did find a bug. But when I switched to Chrome, it worked like a charm.
I suggest that you jump on this right away and give it a try on some of your Zoom meetings. It’s free to use for 14 days to see if you like it. After that, if you want to continue using it, you will pay $15.00 a month. Perfectly reasonable considering how much time it can save you and, maybe more importantly, the ability to record those crucial interactions, complete with video, audio and text that will enhance your risk management and your customer service.
One more note, David had no idea how we might use this in real estate until I talked to him about it. If you think that this could be useful in your business too, please tell him so!
