I attend two local marketing meetings in our area. Agents from many of the local brokerages attend as well as title & escrow, inspectors, property managers, lenders and other people from various other support industries also attend.
The purpose is to network and promote listings as well as buyer and seller wants and needs.
As the market has shifted attendance has increased significantly at both meetings, which is a good thing!
I like to arrive early and make it a point to seek out the new folks and introduce myself. Lately, I have been meeting agents who are new to the business, 6 months or less. So you can imagine how they may have a deer in the headlight look in their eyes! After all, when they started their journey to become agents we were in a roaring seller’s market!
In today’s market, it is increasingly important that we all reach out to our sphere and past clients as well as prospect for new business.
Business cards are one of the tools that still bring a good return for the small amount of money that we spend on them.
One of the things that I have discovered is that these new agents have not been getting good advice from the companies that they work with. What I mean by that is that their business cards have several glaring omissions!
For instance, they don’t have their personal website listed on their cards. No big deal until someone tries to look up the agent based on a business card.
Several of the agents I talked with told me that they also spoke additional languages. But, none of them had that on their business cards! When I asked about that they said they had that info in their website bios! Since the web address was not on the business cards, and it was unwieldy to search through the national company’s website to find their company provided website, no one would ever know!
So here is the take away, if you speak a language other than English, make sure it’s on your business card! And put the website address to your personal site on the card too! If you do any mailer’s or print or online advertising, make sure that you put the same info about languages spoken in the ads!
In this market place you NEED every advantage that you can get. You never know what will bring you your next transaction
