The world is certainly a smaller place than it was when I began selling real estate in 1986!
What I mean by that is these days you are just as likely to meet someone who does not speak English as you are to meet a native English speaker.
This is especially common in my area where open house are frequently visited by any number of Middle East, Near East and Far East language speakers.
So, how can you best serve the needs of these folks if you can’t speak their language?
Enter your Smart Phone! Both the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store offer translation apps that will help you hold conversations. The apps all have free versions, but for best results, it’s better to opt for pro versions that are often offered by subscription.
Since I don’t own an Android phone, I can’t make any recommendations, but I can give you a link to the apps that are available on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/search?q=translation%20app
On the Apple App store go to: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/itranslate-converse/id1241264761 to check out a nifty app that will help you carry on a two way conversation. You select the two languages (yours and theirs) and start speaking (slowly and clearly) in your language. It will translate into the second language and play it back for them and then wait for their reply. After they reply it will play their response back to you in your language! Pretty Cool!
Another very useful app is Google Translate. It will not only do the conversation trick, but it will also translate text and web sites for you!
You can find it here: https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/google-translate/id414706506
Either one of these will serve you well and help you to provide excellent service to non English speakers!
