On Tuesday, January 10th, I was privileged to deliver a 15 minute talk to over 100 REALTORS®, lenders, title reps and other real estate related folks.
I chose to talk about the qualities that I thought were necessary to have in order to have a successful 2023.
Fortunately, someone in the audience recorded it and posted the talk to YouTube.
I ran across a website called Proust.app (https://proust.app/) which will scrape the audio from any YouTube video and transcribe it to text. So, I took the video, loaded the URL to Proust and then copied the output to ChatGPT (I’m still on that AI kick!) and ask ChatGPT to take the transcription and turn it into a long form Blog Post.
What you see below is the output from ChatGPT. If you go to https://youtu.be/HM_DHvJnFmY and watch the video and then compare what I actually said to the text below, you can see the power of the AI to take something and improve on it. I really think that you need to start playing around with ChatGPT. Go to https://openai.com/blog/chatgpt/ to check it out.
In the meantime, watch the video or read the text below to get some ideas about how to kill it in 2023!
As we begin a new year, it’s important to take a moment to reflect on where we are and what we’re supposed to be doing.
One of the biggest changes in recent years has been the shift from a speed-based market to a skill-based market.
In the past, we could simply stand in the way of a transaction, but now we have to actively chase after them and find them. This is why experience, local market knowledge, and marketing strategies are more important than ever.
It’s important to remember that the market doesn’t define us, it’s our mindset that determines how we approach it. The market can be scary, but it’s up to us to decide whether we see it as hard or easy. When the market is hard, many people quit, but if you stay in it, you’ll have less competition.
To make this market work for you, you need to maintain a positive attitude and not walk around with a doom and gloom mentality. People still buy and sell properties for the same reasons they always have – a new job, a divorce, a marriage, etc. It’s our job to find those people.
You don’t need to learn something new or different, you just need to master what you’ve already been taught. There’s no need to spend a fortune on courses or travel to distant places for more information.
The key is to be great, not just good. To become great, you need to dream big, set goals, and take action. Get off your butt and go do something.
One book that can help you find your purpose and set goals is “Start With Why” by Simon Sinek. It’s important to understand why you’re doing what you’re doing, because if you don’t have a big enough why, you won’t be able to do the hard stuff – like prospecting.
Prospecting can be difficult, but it’s essential to success. One of the biggest mistakes people make is using the same prospecting process for all of their prospects. Each person is different and may need a different approach. It’s important to understand who your ideal client is and tailor your prospecting efforts to reach them.
In conclusion, having a prosperous 2023 is not about trying something new or different, it’s about mastering what you already know and using it to your advantage.
Maintaining a positive attitude, setting specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-sensitive goals, and including a prospecting plan are key to success in this skill-based market. Remember, good is not enough, you’ve got to be great. So, take action, find your why and make 2023 your best year yet.
