More than a year ago we were told to shelter in place for two weeks to flatten the curve. Over time, as we learned more about the virus, we progressed to steadily more restrictions on what we could do and what we could not do.
We lost much of our ability to interact with clients and potential clients so we have had to look at new ways to connect with people so that we could promote our businesses.
In some ways this has proved to be blessing, in others a real tragedy.
Rather than dwell on what we lost and can no longer do, I wanted to bring something to your attention that you may have wondered about. And that is direct mail. In the old, pre-digital days, direct mail was a proven method to reach people. We learned to find neighborhoods, do bulk mailing, learned about the importance of real stamps and real hand written envelopes. Then POOF! one day it all went away in favor of the low cost and immediacy of digital communications.
But, one of the things that has grown in popularity as a result of the pandemic is direct mail. People are home more than they were pre-pandemic and they are more likely to actually open what you are sending to them. So I’d like to suggest that you take a look at using direct mail.
I’ve explored this before in the following articles. Go ahead and take a look at each of them for some pre-pandemic background. Then take a look at some articles that I found that will bring you up to speed on using direct mail today.
Check out this article that I wrote in January of 2019 that offers some insight in why I think DM is a good idea: https://realtytechbytes.com/is-direct-mail-dead-i-dont-think-so/
