If you have been reading this blog for any length of time, you probably realize that I love to find to new products and services that are beneficial to real estate agents. Hopefully that is obvious to you. One of the services that I saw at the recent Inman conference in San Francisco is SecureShow. The following is from the promo material available on the InmanConnect website:
“Secure Show® helps ensure the safety of real estate professionals and landlords using a simple and patent-pending identity verification process. Avoid becoming a “crime-by-appointment” — know who you’re going to meet before you meet them face-to-face.”
I liked the premise and spent some time talking with the founder, Lyn Robinson, about her company and I liked what she told me. It is a reality that our business requires that we often meet strangers at vacant houses or other less than secure locations. SecureShow has developed a patent-pending method of verifying that the person you are going to meet is who they say that they are. While this is no guarantee of your safety, it does introduce an element of security in that you will know the person’s name and address and phone number before you meet them. You will also have a photo of them as well.
It’s a subscription service that is very reasonably priced, and the process is respectful and fast. I strongly suggest that you at least check it out, and use it if it makes sense for you. What do you think? Have you ever had a close call while showing property?
