Last week was Inman Connect in San Francisco. This is billed as the best real estate technology conference on the planet. Until you get the Inman Connect Conference in New York City in January. Then THAT conference is billed as the worlds best real estate technology conference.
In my opinion both shows are no where near the hype and billing given them by the Inman cartel.
Each year I attend and each year I ask myself why did I waste the time and money? And then on the last day of the show they have a show special offering you a “deal” on the registration for the up coming New York show and the following San Francisco show in the summer. And I have bitten on that in years past.
But this year it was different. No one in their right mind travels to New York City in January, so that was out, But, for next year, Inman decided to hold the summer show in Las Vegas. Hallelujah! Finally, Inman solved my dilemma. I HATE Las Vegas. Mainly because of all the cigarette smoke that is everywhere, but also because I just hate the place!
So, I am not going to Inman ever again … unless they bring the show back to San Francisco.
I DID see something at the trade show that is worth investigating though.
Head on over to http://www.jigglar.com if you are in the market for a fresh, free marketing platform. They have pre-made templates for all sorts of marketing pieces that you can populate with your own listing pictures and verbiage.
If you opt for the Premium version you get more templates to choose from, but I suggest that you start with free version and see if it’s for you.
There were a lot of vendors at the show this year, mostly rehashed products from years past. And all of the “cool kids” touting the next big thing that will put us all out of business were there too.
Anyhow, if you want to know what went on at all of the sessions, go to inman dot com. It’s all there in full histrionics. You’ll get the gist of what went on without lining Brad Inman’s pockets.
Brad, I’m done. New York in January and Las Vegas in the summer? Dude you have it all wrong!
