In this day and age of smart phones and easy accessibility to information, I don’t see the necessity of carrying around business cards. If I give my card to someone, chances are it gets lost or at best the recipient has to manually enter the info into their computer or phone.
Consequently, when I started my new job at Bradley Real Estate in February, I chose to NOT have them make up business cards for me.
Instead, I use icon.me. This is a web based application that allows me to enter my contact info, a picture and my social feeds into what they call an Icon. I can access my Icon from my phone, and when I meet someone I can merely enter their phone number or email address into the web app on my phone and instantly send my info to them.
This saves having to print and carry paper cards for me, and for the recipient, they save having to to manually enter the data into their contact manager. And, it keeps them from losing the info!
