Some years ago I heard Saul Klein of Internet Crusade say that real estate was a “me too” business. He went on to explain that most real estate agents do the same things to attract clients and to service them. Here is a article published by NAR that contains that remark and his further explanation http://internetcrusade.com/articles/ePRO_ProfileArticle_bySaulKlein.pdf it’s a quick read and worth your time.
His point was that in order to stand out from the crowd, you need to do different things, and to further put a point on it, learn to use technology. Of course he was selling the idea of obtaining an ePro Certification from NAR. Even so, the remark has withstood the test of time and is as relevant today as it was then.
Recently I became aware of a new technology created by Marc Davison, Brian Boero and Joel Burslem of 1000 Watt Consulting in conjunction with W&R Studios called Nudge.
Nudge is “web based software that makes it easy to share your real estate knowledge – and stand out!” according to http://getnudgeapp.com/agents which is where you would go to learn more about it.
The reason that I am talking about it here is because I believe, and have believed since I heard Saul’s remarks nearly 10 years ago, is that you have to be constantly be looking for new ways to stand out from the crowd.
Since Nudge makes it easy to translate your local market knowledge into beautiful and stunning graphical representations (it’s a 4 step process), your knowledge becomes instantly understandable to any one looking at it. And that will truly make you stand out!
Once a Nudge is created, you can send it via email right from the webpage, or share it via Facebook, LinkedIn or Twitter and you can even embed it in your blog or website.
The service is subscription based and for now is $99.00 per year for agents. That may seem a bit steep to some, but they do offer a 30 day money back guarantee if for some reason you don’t like it.
So here is my advice: Be different. Stand out from the crowd. Get Nudged! And then ask your clients what they think about your new marketing method…my guess is that they will be wowed.
