Have you ever wanted to get in on the ground floor of some new technology? You know, be the first kid on your block to have the newest cool thing? If so, now is your chance.
I was contacted by Michael Baker, the founder of Open House Trader and was asked by him to take a look at his new site, http://www.OpenHouseTrader.com, “a social network designed to help real estate professionals communicate about open houses”, so I did.
Rather than go on and on here, Mike has a short video at http://youtu.be/T3SWXVJGeOU that will explain what it is and how it works.
I emailed Mike and asked him a few questions and with his permission here is his response, which I think you’ll find interesting:
Thank you for taking the time to check it out.
It is very new. The site went live just last month. It’s also pretty small. There are just over 60 users so far.
This represents some contacts from my personal list, and some that have been trickling in from things like: the Chrome Store app, the YouTube videos, and invites from other users.
Originally I thought it would be a regional thing, but as it evolved it made more sense to keep it wide open in that respect. Users will interact mostly with existing contacts, choosing individually who to invite to their open houses.
My plans are to promote it where I can and gather feedback. My contact with you is an early step in this process.
Past that, my plans are more like ideas/visions.
I would like to establish a universal system for listing agents to communicate to other agents and lenders that they have a property that is available to hold open. The other social integrations are extra features on top of that main goal.
Another goal is to become a ListHub network partner.
I welcome any feedback, and absolutely welcome you to share the site anywhere you like.

Why not give Mike a hand here and put one of your open houses into his system and then use the system to promote the open house on your social networks? You’ll most likely be the first in your area to do so and you will be showing your sellers how innovative you are in the marketing of their home!
