Social Networking Secret Weapon
Posted by Jerry Kidd under: Cool Freebies; Product Reviews; Social Media .
I have to confess. I have a secret weapon that allows me to stay on top of my Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn networks.
If you’ve got more than a few friends on these networks, keeping up with everyone’s activities can be pretty time consuming, but keep up you must. Otherwise, what is the point of social networking if you don’t keep in touch?
I am pretty mobile most of the time, so I heavily rely on the iPhone Apps for Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. They are great for doing some in depth things in each of those networks, but what I rely on most are the emails from Nutshell Mail that come at 8 AM, Noon and 4 PM, a schedule that I set up. You can have the emails come hourly if you want, but this schedule works for me.
Nutshell Mail follows all of my accounts and whenever any of my friends, followers or contacts posts something, it gets added to the next scheduled email alert that I receive. I can choose whose info gets passed along to me via groups, contact lists, Twitter lists and also by the individual.
Here is a video from Nutshell Mail that will give you an overview:
NutshellMail: Simplify Your Online Social Life from David Lyman on Vimeo.
The level of customization available is pretty thorough and by spending little time on your initial set-up, you’ll have a tool that allows you to do what I do, and that is speed through hundreds of updates every day to find the ones that I really want to act upon.
They also support Ning and MySpace in addition to Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. Did I mention that it is free?

I have heard a lot of good things about this service, and just signed up! I like that you can customize the delivery times to hours of the day and specific days.

I tried this months ago and had mixed feelings. I did like the summary, but the reports came through sporadically for me. Some days I would get five emails in a row, other days no email at all.

That may have been a bug that they fixed as I haven't experienced that issue.. You can schedule the times that they send the emails to fit whatever times you want.

Perhaps I will give it another try, I did like the digest format.
